We recommend using Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat wherever you’re using a Farrow & Ball topcoat. Not only is it specially formulated to bring out the very best in the paint, but keeping to the same brand for your priming and painting products will help to avoid any incompatibility issues.
Made with the same natural ingredients and pigments as Farrow & Ball's paint topcoats, this undercoat is the crucial foundation for creating a rich, even and longer lasting finish.Â
Farrow & Ball paint colours are renowned for their depth, complexity, and ability to respond extraordinarily to light.
For an even, long-lasting finish, we recommend following the Farrow & Ball system:
It creates the complexity and depth of colour that bring walls to life.
Farrow & Ball Primers & Undercoats are available in the following four tones:
Each one is made with a careful balance of pigments, and between them they bring out the best in Farrow & Ball's entire palette of colours, adding richness and depth for that signature Farrow & Ball look.
Because they begin with the same rich pigments and water base as their paints, Farrow & Ball's Primers & Undercoats help your chosen colour to adhere effortlessly to the surface you’re painting, giving you a smooth, even finish and unrivalled coverage.
Apply one coat of Farrow & Ball Wall & Ceiling Primer & Undercoat to a properly prepared surface in the correct colour tone for your paint topcoat. Allow a minimum of 4 hours drying time before following with two coats of your chosen paint topcoat to promote adhesion and full colour depth.
Farrow & Ball Preparation Products Product Advice Sheets
Wash paint brushes and rollers in warm soapy water and let them fully air dry before storing.
After your project has finished, you can keep leftover primer in top condition and ready for future use by ensuring the lid is on securely and tightly. We also recommend turning the container upside down for a few seconds to stop a skin forming on the primer before storing in an upright position. Keep in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from fluctuating temperatures and frost (above 10C), to keep the primer at its best and avoid waste.
If you have leftover primer that you are unable to use or store properly, your local household waste recycling centre may have a paint donation point.
Do not empty primer contents into drains or watercourses. Dispose of any remaining primer at local waste disposal site in accordance with local/national regulations. Empty metal containers may be recycled.
